The CHC40221 – Certificate IV in School Based Education Support, commonly known as Cert 4 Education Support or the teacher’s aide course, is highly regarded in the industry. Education support workers play a crucial role in aiding teachers and facilitating student learning across various primary and secondary classroom settings, working closely with educational professionals. Completion of Cert IV Education Support mandates a minimum of 100 hours of practical experience in a classroom setting catering to primary or secondary school students, within an approved school environment.

There are no prerequisite qualifications required to enter this program.
Education and skills
Students must complete a Pre-Training Review, meet the Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skill standards for this program level, and demonstrate they are a suitable candidate for this program.
Regulatory
You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of at least 18 years of age, or an Asylum Seeker.
All candidates require a Unique Student Identification (USI) number. If you do not have a USI number you can apply for one online at https://www.usi.gov.au/students, or you can give Access Learning staff permission to apply on your behalf.

Digital technology

Prior experience
Credit Transfer (CT) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) are available. Credit Transfer is free of charge. RPL application fees are $145 per hour. Talk to our staff for more information.
100 hours of Work Placement
This program’s work placement is 100 hours. You may find your own location to do your work placement, otherwise we can help place you.

This program is delivered over 10 months. We can organise your work-placement with one of our host employers if required.
