Students enrolling into this course must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Complete an Upfront Assessment of Need (UAN)
- Complete a literacy, numeracy and digital literacy assessment
- Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible visa holder for funded positions
- Have access to a computer or laptop with reliable internet access
- Be able to participate in online virtual classroom sessions via Zoom
- Possess sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills to complete course requirements
There are no formal prerequisite units for this qualification.
Additional eligibility requirements may apply for government funded positions.

This qualification requires students to complete a minimum of 120 hours of mandatory work placement within an approved aged care service. This may include residential aged care, home care, or community care environments.
Students must be available for approximately two days per week outside scheduled class days to complete placement requirements.
Angel Institute provides support in securing suitable work placement opportunities through established industry partnerships. Students may also nominate their own placement provider, subject to approval.
Students undertaking work placement must:
- Complete placement within an approved aged care setting
- Follow workplace policies and procedures
- Complete workplace-based assessment activities
- Work under the supervision of an approved workplace supervisor
- Meet all placement requirements outlined by the training provider
Students are also expected to have access to:
- A computer or laptop
- Reliable internet connection
- Webcam and microphone
- Basic digital literacy skills
- Microsoft Office or similar software
- General stationery and study materials
- A suitable quiet study space
This course is delivered through online real-time virtual classroom sessions using Zoom, combined with self-paced learning activities, trainer support, and workplace learning.

- Workplace-based assessment tasks
Students should also expect to undertake:
- Up to 7 hours per week of independent study
- Up to 7 hours per week of assignment preparation
- Research and revision activities
- Assessment preparation and evidence collection
